Key Mill Branch is one of my favorite places to lead a hike. It pretty much has everything in a 3 mile hike. You have waterfall, big bluffs, cave like passages to climb thru and even a old historical site. You go into the canyon by following what is called the helicopter road. Named that because of a helicopter that crashed there in 2007 this road is our road into the canyon. The road is 10 years old and nature is reclaiming it quickly, but it leads us most of the way to the fist waterfall we find.

After the small waterfall where climb down in the canyon the next big thing you come to is called the stage. You can climb up on the stage by way of a small cave.

Inside if you look you will also find small spring at the back of the cave along with the name "key" and the date 1909 etch in a large rock. My hikes are always off trail and highlighted by waterfalls abd that is what you will find next.

If you have ha some rain you will pass several waterfalls on the way to this one, but this one marks the start of a very waterfall rich area.

Twisted falls is one of my favorites as the waterfalls and the makes a 90 degree turn before falling again.

On top of this waterfall is the old mill site. Nothing left of the mill that closed in 1952 but a few large gears as mother nature is taking her land back. The 3 mile hike is now nearing its end but as wee climb out we see one more waterfall.

The water is such a pretty blue don't you think? We still have the last waterfall on our hike to see and to me it is the best one!

Not a bad day of hiking at all, well gotta figure out where I am leading my hike next month now. We may come back here who knows time will tell.
