Mize Mills and Turkey Foot Falls hike

When we started hiking in Bankhead forest one of the first "off trail" waterfalls we found were these two. Easy to find just north of the Sipsey Recreational lower parking lot, Turkeyfoot creek actually runs parallel to Cranal road. You will know you are going the right way when you run up on the old car

Now you know you are headed the right direction, so keep going. You can hear the occasional car traveling down Cranal road but that doesn't spoil the hike at all. You follow the creek some more and enjoy all the cascades and even a side waterfall if there has been a rain lately. It is a very relaxing hike as you can feel the world's troubles getting carried away by the creek as you hike. Next you come up on Turkey Foot Falls.

A great spot to sit and relax as the water crashes onto the rocks. There is a small spot where some people will pitch a tent and camp there. After you have rested you still have one more stop and it is a good one!

This is Mize mill Fall and it makes the whole trip worthwhile. If you go up above the falls you can still find where the old Mill was located. Go enjoy a nice hike!
